Singapore
Standing at 714 sq-km, Singapore is a small island city-state with a large urban population of 3.8 million people. Despite extensive coastal modifications, Singapore still possess natural coastal habitats including more than 33 ha of seagrass meadows encompassing twelve species. These meadows thrive despite various anthropogenic pressures, presenting a unique opportunity to study seagrasses in a highly disturbed environment.
Research Groups
Seagrass Research Group
We are team of researchers from the National University of Singapore, St. John's Island National Marine Laboratory, and DHI Singapore working together on a NParks-funded project to assess the resilience of our local meadows and investigate the potential for seagrass restoration.

Our current research objectives include:
-
Assessing the current status of seagrass meadows in Singapore
-
Identifying the local and regional connectivity of seagrass meadows
-
Understand the resilience and productivity of seagrass meadows
-
Assessing the potential of seagrass restoration in Singapore

TeamSeaGrass
TeamSeaGrass is a volunteer group that conducts seagrass monitoring in Singapore. TeamSeaGrass started monitoring seagrass meadows in Singapore in Janurary 2007. TeamSeaGrass uses the monitoring method from Seagrass-Watch for our habitat monitoring. We have three main monitoring sites in Singapore and two secondary sites.
